Chrome yourself with high-quality chrome electrolyte from Dr. Galva!
A layer of chrome protects a wide variety of components from oxidation and corrosion. In addition, the workpiece gets a visually appealing appearance. Our electrolyte is based on chromium(III). Whereas chromium(VI) was originally used in industrial processes, chromium(III) electrolytes are increasingly being used because they have a much lower impact on humans and nature. This electrolyte contains all our know-how - we were able to make it much brighter and more powerful. Current densities of up to 20A/dm² can be achieved.
As a rule, chrome is deposited in a layer system of copper - nickel - chrome. The intermediate layer of nickel provides additional protection against corrosion, as chrome layers exhibit micro-cracks. The chromium itself is usually only deposited in a layer thickness of 0.2 to 0.5µm.
Of course, the chrome electrolyte is suitable for all processes such as bath electroplating and pin electroplating (or tampon electroplating).
Always wear the required protective equipment such as safety goggles, gloves and protective clothing when chrome plating and only work in a well-ventilated room.
The most important advantages at a glance:
-is equally suitable for bath electroplating and pin electroplating/tampon electroplating
-high adhesive strength and abrasion resistance
-high hardness up to 1200 HV
-extremely wide current density range
-colour of the chrome layer is very similar to the result of hexavalent chrome baths
-heating of the electrolyte is not necessary (temperature range 15-50°C, preferably 15-30°C)
-high reflection and beautiful lustre
-higher permissible metal impurities than with other processes, thus easier to use
In order to achieve a perfect result with the chrome electrolyte, suitable anodes are required for the galvanic process used. Anodes made of aluminium, platinised titanium, platinum or iridium are recommended. If necessary, graphite, nickel or stainless steel anodes can be used for pin electroplating. With nickel or stainless steel anodes, however, care must be taken to wash out the pad well in between so that the metal contamination that occurs does not contaminate the electrolyte and the chromium layer.
Aluminium anodes have proven to be particularly advantageous, they are especially inexpensive and the electrolyte retains its excellent colour. If you do not have any, we recommend that you order them directly from us.
